The Hellenic Society of Cardiology has been participating in the program of the European Society of Cardiology for the European Examination - General Cardiology for the last 3 years. The program has so far included 7 countries: Malta, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Greece, while other countries are expected to join for the years 2017-2018. The European General Cardiology examinations are the official certification of specialization in Cardiology in some of the aforementioned countries. In March 2016, the ESCeL General Cardiology Training Program website was presented, with more than 260 courses accompanied by self-assessment multiple choice questions, logbooks and the ability to report professional and educational activities, assessing training, competence and the professional development of the candidate. This program enables cardiology interns to access ESC's General Cardiology training material, as well as the interactive ESCel online platform and participate actively as trainees. From their participation in the program, along with the training in order to obtain the Diploma of European Cardiologist, they will also acquire continuous training modules that will be awarded through the Hellenic Society of Cardiology.
The program for Greece is supervised by the President of HCS Dr. Kostas Tsioufis with the contribution of Dr. Christos Katsouras, Dr. Aikaterini Naka, Dr. Dimitris Tsiachris, Dr. Christina Chrysochoou.
Successful Candidates of Past Years
For the writing and selection of multiple-choice questions on the diagnosis and treatment of clinical incidents, 3 - 5 cardiologists from each country participate in five annual meetings at the European Heart House in Nice,
The next exams will take place on June 14, 2018 at two examination centers in Athens and Thessaloniki.
